Mount Edward Elementary Wk 2

Welcome to new students that were with us this week!

We all worked at our own pace today and achieved more than I expected so hats off to you!
The class started with us all reviewing last weeks songs " Frere Jacques" and "When the Saints" I came around and listened to everyone's lovely performance.

Today our main focus was note values (Theory Thinker 1-2 "Bar Lines and Note Values") We started to practice the exercises on whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, eighth notes, and sixteenth notes.

Those who got past these main exercises, went on to a list of more exercises for practice in Theory Thinker 1-2 : Things to practice.

Next week we will be starting with these note value exercises and moving on to the bass or "F" clef in the left hand.

Park West Elementary 3-6 Wk 2.

Great work this week!

We all remembered proper posture and perfect hand position from last class.

This week we learned quite a lot. We were able to cover 1-4 "The notation of Pitch" in which we learned the notes of the staff and middle "C" as well as all about the treble or "G" clef in lesson 1-1. You were all able to distinguish the letter names on the keyboard by playing "key quest" to test your knowledge.
The two pieces that we started this week are:
Song #1 Topic 05 page 03 Exercise 01 " Frere Jacques"
Song #2 T. 05 Pg. 05 Ex 01 "When the Saints"
Some of you have learned both pieces, while others are just starting. We will start next weeks class with these and I will come around to listen to you all play your first piece.
We will also be learning all about note values next class.

Please remember that next week we will be starting at 3:15. This will not change the routine for the students; you are all to come to the music room at 3:00 just as we have been this month. But it is important to know that we will now be finishing at 4:15.

Welcome to the Adventus MusIQ piano lessons!

We are off to a wonderful start this semester. If you have a keyboard at home, I would recommend that you check this blog weekly to review what we did in class.
