BLT Wk 1

Welcome back!

We have 2 new students who have joined us!
Those of you from last term- we are on our 8th lesson

Today you reviewed your C+ scale ascending and descending and then learned how to play you contrary motion scale with two hands. Everyone did very well at this.
The three pieces we practiced today were:

• On Top of Old Smokey
• Pop Goes the Weasel
• Get UP

Krista and Jazlyn. You are both off to a great start. You did the first few chapters in Piano Player learning about the piano and the basics on note values.

At the end of class we reviewed note values, rest values and the notes on the staff. You then all practiced drawing all the different musical symbols such as the treble clef, bass clef, whole note, ect. We ended with a face off game to help us remember our note values.

Next week you will do your practice test to prepare you for the final one along with your two songs that you will play for me by Lesson 10.

Welcome to our new student Miranda.

Erin and Brogan you finished up with Mr. Joplin in Lesson 12. Good work practising using your finger numbers and keeping your hands in a nice curved position.

Will you are almost done Level 1 and will be moving on to Level 2 next week. Today you learned about leger lines and played "The Baseball Game" which demonstrates these. I then taught you about intervals and you finished your practise test. Next week you will finish the real test and move on to some new lessons.

Miranda what a great start to Level 1. You got very far today. The computer reviewed posture, types of pianos, and you started note values. The two songs that you learned in Piano Player were:

• Mary Had a Little Lamb
• Old Grey Goose

Mount Edward Elementary P-2 Wk 1

Welcome back!

With no hesitation we got right back into the swing of things. I am so pleased to hear that you all now have keyboards!! What a great Christmas gift to me!

Erin and Cameron you finished lesson 12 with Mr. Beethoven and Miss. Melody. Good job beating Bongo Boy Erin! Cameron you're really doing great completing levels on the stepping stone game!!

Taylor you finished lesson 11.
You're learning so fast and catching up very quickly. Fantastic!

In Lessons 11 and 12 Mr. Joplin focuses on our hand position. (think of ant tunnels) We have been practising strengthening our fingers by making sure we use the correct finger and use our left or right hand when specified. The stepping stone game is great practise for this.

Kennedy finished lesson 9.

In Lesson 9 we are working with Mr. Bach on going higher and higher on the keyboard, as well as lower and lower. Your rhythm time is getting much better Kennedy! You're also getting close to starting new lessons with Mr. Joplin. Good work!
