BLT Wk 7

Good job today.

I listened to some of you play a piece of your choice and I saw some great things!
Perfect hand position:(curved fingers in place) correct fingering, smooth legato playing. You are playing fabulously!

We learned something new today- Intervals. There are 2 types: Melodic and Harmonic. Once we know what type it is, we need to count the distance between the notes to find out if it is a fourth, fifth, sixth ect.

I had cards for you to match in groups to make sure we understand this. You will need to know this for your written test at the end of class 10. Starting in January, we will do some theory practice sheets.

This is what we covered today:
  • C major scale, left and right hand- ascending, descending.
  • Intervals
  • Pieces: Away in a manger, Pop Goes the Weasel, On top of Old Smokey, Get up
Here are some of the songs if you have time to practice over the holidays.

Happy Holidays!
Classes will resume the second week of January.

Halifax Independent School P-2 and 3-6 Wk 8

P-2
I introduced you to a new teacher-Mr. Joplin. In class you learned that your fingers are numbered and how to place your hand correctly on the keyboard.

You had a new game called stepping stones which helps you with finger position and technique. In January, we will review this lesson, before moving on.

You can register online or hand/mail in the forms I sent home.
Happy Holidays!

3-6
Good work. You practiced some new pieces today. Here is what you have done:
  • Old Grey Goose
  • Pop Goes the Weasel
  • On Top of Old Smokey
  • Get Up
  • Away in a Manger
We also went over you C major scale in the right hand ascending and left hand descending. I then taught you a new scale: G major.
Remember that theory sheet we started in class one day? We will be continuing with that starting in January.

Mount Edward Elementary 3-6 Wk 10

Great last class.

Everyone played their 2 pieces for me and you all did very well. The written tests are also looking quite good. Those who would like more practice in the new year, I will make some theory practice sheets.
Don't forget to register for after Christmas.

Have a great Christmas and I hope to see you in January!

I hope you all enjoyed your piano lessons!

You practiced your songs from my list, and then got a chance to pick a few songs of your own. We also spent some time showing your parents the Key Quest games, and games in the Children's Music Journey program.

Thanks for a great term of classes and I hope to see you in the January! When you reach Lesson 10 I will give you an assessment to grade how you are doing.

Great work in our last class!

I introduced you to our new teacher Mr. Joplin and you completed Lesson 11. When you come back in January we will review this lesson again for practice before moving on. We reviewed all of our teachers and you did a great job remembering little facts about the composers lives.

Have a great holiday!

I hope you enjoyed MusIQ Club and I hope to see you next term in January.

NEXT WEEK IS OUR LAST CLASS

Good work today!

We all did our written test today, which I will mark and give back to you next week. I think you are all getting a grasp on the theory component. I can give you more practice sheets next term if this helps.

You then practiced your songs for next week assessments. We are trying to accomplish at least an 80% on our pieces. Don't forget you can practice at home! Here are the pieces for you to print off.

See you next week!

OUR LAST CLASS IS DECEMBER 14th

Today we spent some more time learning middle C. You are all getting much better at remembering where it is. You reviewed the Practice Room with Miss. Melody in Lesson 2 and went on the a new lesson with Mr. Beethoven in Lesson 3.

It is very important that we listen to the instructions of our teachers and don't click the green "X" until each lesson is over. Otherwise will won't be able to go on to the next lesson.

Next week we will finish Lesson 3.
