Welcome to our new students!
Level 2
This week we started our Level 2 lessons. You learned about musical rests from lesson 2-1 as well as accidentals in lesson 2-2. You now know what a flat, sharp and natural is.
We are going to be learning quite a lot of new concepts and scales this term as the classes move quicker than Level 1. I am going to start posting practice homework every week now, as level 2 is becoming a bit more challenging and practice is necessary to keep up.

Since you are not able to access your song online yet all I would like you to do is practice your C+ scale ascending in the RH and descending in the LH as well as C+ contrary motion with both hands.
I would also like you to go to the following links and play the following games to review note values:

Great work everyone!
This week we finished Lesson 7 with Mr. Bach. You all remembered who your new teacher was when you came into class. I am very impressed. In Lesson 7 we continued to learn and practice more on "holding notes" You now know how to clap a holding note. We are now practicing our rhythm time with numbers rather than sayings. " 1-2-3+4" However we still use fun sayings when we have our circle time at the end of class.
TO PRACTICE AT HOME
If you have a keyboard at home, I would like you to every time you walk by it, to try and find middle C. You can also practice clapping rhythms. You clap one for your mom or dad and get them to clap it back to you.
Here's a simple game which will help you get used to learning the note names of the keys. Match the colours!

Hello,
LEVEL 2
Last week was a great review before we started Level 2. Today's class we learned about accidentals- sharps and flats. To make something sharp, you need to go up a note and to make it flat, go down a note on the keyboard. Sharps and flats are usually the black keys.We skipped most of the exercises in this lesson as they were a bit confusing, but great work trying them!. Next week I will talk more about tones and semitones.
SONGS
Let it Be
Level 1
Today you learned quite a lot! Posture, hand position, pitch, time, the clefs, the staff, note values! It is a lot to take in and we can review some next class.
SONGS
Your first song today was Mary had a Little Lamb
Great work everyone.

Hello!
We had few numbers today but still had a good class.
Scales: C pentatonic
C contrary motion NEW
Our scale review for the day was C pentatonic scale. Remember to skip 'F' and 'B' The fingering for this scale is :
1-2-3-1-2-4
c-d-e-g-a-c
Our Level 2 students are learning a few new concepts. This week, we learned about sharps and flats in Theory Thinker 2-3. I will talk more about tones and semitones next week but basically to sharpen a note, go up one note. And to flatten, go down one note. Sharps and flats are usually considered to be the black keys on the keyboard, however there are a few exceptions.
I talked about the terms Legato and Staccato and also started to explain tones and semitones. We will review more on them next week.

Welcome back Level 2 students and a friendly hello to our many new Level 1 students.
We have a great variety of ages and talents and I am very excited for the new term.
Level 2
Our Friday's class was a chance to review terms from Level 1. Our main concept today was learning about dotted notes and ties. Every seemed to grasp this new concept very well. For those who have the program at home we covered Theory Thinker Lesson 2-4.
New Level 1 students
You ploughed through the first few lessons about the basics of learning how to play piano such as posture, hand position, and basic note values. We spent some time away from the computers at the end of class and you did very well with the flash cards.
Good work everyone.

I am very impressed on how well behaved we were today. You all learned a great deal.
To start, I read you a story about your new teacher Mr. Bach. He comes from Germany and I demonstrated how we way his name in a German accent. Do you remember that he had 20 children?!
We are already on Lesson 6 with Mr. Bach. Miss Melody helped you practice what you learned in your lesson and then you played one of the two new games "waiting for the train" I will teach you how to play the "princess game" soon; one which many of you have been waiting for.
Everyone got a chance to play the wood block at the end of class. Some of you thought of some great rhythm phrases! "I miss my dad-dy"
I cannot wait for another great lesson with you all.
Welcome to our new student Emma who is starting on level 1 and 2!
