Monday, February 4

Ocean View Elementary 3-6 Wk 3

Great work!

We were supposed to do the rest of our written assessment test last week, however there was a storm. I did not bring the tests today so we will do them next week!

Today we went on to starting Level 2!
Much of the focus in class was on the bass clef . We spent time remembering that the bass clef staff is different than the treble clef just to make more notes for you to remember. The bass clef lines are: " G-B-D-F-A" and the spaces are "A-C-E-G" You listened to Theory Thinker 1-7 : The notes in the staff below middle C, played the keyquest note placement game and we finished with face off flash cards.

I am very proud of how much you remembered and learned today. Near the end of class we played go fish with interval cards.
We also learned some dynamic terms: p,mp, mf,f

Now that you are in level 2 we no longer have numbers to guide us through our songs. We spent some time on our Level 1 songs without numbers.

TO PRACTICE AT HOME

If you can at home try going through some of your songs saying the note names like we did in class. We did this with songs " Mary had a little Lamb" and "Yankee Doodle" Here are some new songs for you to practice this with.

Hello Everyone!

Great work today. Some of us got through 2 lessons! We're on Lessons 13 and 14 right now. You are doing so well! Mr Joplin is teaching us to play one note after the other using both our right and left hand . Our hands are in middle c positions. ( both thumbs on C) You are all doing a great job keeping your hands nice and curved ( keeping those tunnels clear for the ants!)

Mr. Joplin also told you about the musical alphabet "A-B-C-D-E-F-G" you of course already know these letters from "The notes on the keyboard go like this"

I also sent home a postcard for parents. This is information for which you can rent a keyboard and/or the software for only $10 to try it out at home for practice.

Once again great work on these lessons!
