Today we worked on a number of exercises which followed our practice on note values.("Things to practice" Topic 6 Page 19 Ex 1-11 from xix 1-2 Bar lines and note values under Theory Thinker)
After this I guided you through lesson 1-5 "Lines and spaces about middle C" Here we learned how to remember the line in the treble or "G" clef: Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge. or Every Good Boy Does Fine. We remember the spaces in the treble clef by spelling F-A-C-E.
Today was a very important class to further our piano playing skills and I felt that we were not all paying attention as we should have been. I know next week we will fly through reviewing the notes in the treble clef and you will be more eager to learn more on the bass or "F" clef.
I realize we are zipping through an incredible amount of material in these first few weeks but you are doing great! This is what we've learned so far:
- Proper posture and hand position
- recognizing all the notes on the keyboard
- naming all the notes on the treble staff
- Basic note values, (whole, half, quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes)
- 2 songs and multiple exercises
- playing with the left hand in the bass clef.
Great work reviewing your notes on the staff in both clefs. You're a pro now! You started learning/reviewing rests, accidentals. We will proceed with these classes next week. I will also be listening to some of your level 1 pieces.
Ala, Alana, Hope
This class you had an introduction to the piano
We reviewed proper hand position and posture and then proceeded to practice different note values. Good for you for learning two songs on your first day!
Song #1 Topic 05 page 03 Exercise 01 " Frere Jacques"
Song #2 T. 05 Pg. 05 Ex 01 "When the Saints"
I am very impressed how much you learned and accomplished in this class. Next week you will also be learning about the bass "F" clef. Fantastic work!!
